Going on a cruise can have a significant impact on your vacation’s carbon footprint: on average, a cruise produces 10 times more greenhouse gas emissions than a typical vacation involving hotels, dining, and local transportation. 100 kgCO2e per day on a cruise ship versus 10 kgCO2e per day for a stay on land—that’s a huge difference!

If it’s the travel aspect that appeals to you, why not explore other ways to get around? By train, by bike… Europe is full of possible routes, and many agencies offer “all-inclusive” itineraries.

If it’s the all-inclusive experience that appeals to you, many clubs also offer this type of package: meals, leisure activities, childcare…
