Food
Parent? What options do you have when it comes to your children's school lunch program?
I understand what's at stake
School cafeteria menus have changed significantly in recent years to:
- reduce food waste,
- cut down on plastic waste,
- offer more meals made with organic products,
- promote local products…
Since the passage of the EGalim Act in France, school cafeterias have been required to offer at least one vegetarian meal per week. This same law also requires that at least 20% of the food served to children be organic.
As parents, don’t hesitate to take an interest in your children’s menus and to introduce cafeteria managers and parent representatives to tools that can make your children’s meals even healthier and more environmentally friendly.
Taking action
- Ma Cantine : an ADEME website (in French) aimed at facilitating school cafeterias to be more committed to the environment
- Booklet “Vers une alimentation plus durable en restauration collective” (in French)
