Choose an electricity plan powered by renewable energy

I understand what's at stake

Currently, in France, the vast majority of electricity plans are marketed as “green.” However, not all of them guarantee that the electricity purchased supports renewable energy production in France, as the term “green” might suggest. Most simply purchase certificates known as “guarantees of origin.”

To make the details of “green” electricity plans more transparent and to help consumers, ADEME has decided to award a label (the Vervolt label) to plans in which energy suppliers are linked to renewable energy producers in France for all of the electricity they provide to their customers.

Taking action

Check whether your electricity plan is actually generated using renewable energy by verifying that it carries the Vertvolt label, a certification established by the Agency for Ecological Transition.

If your current energy provider does not offer a Vertvolt-certified plan, keep in mind that switching energy providers:

  • is free,
  • does not require any equipment changes or a visit from a technician,
  • does not result in any service interruptions.
