The ferry's carbon footprint is smaller than that of the plane, but still significant. A good idea would be to use it only as an alternative to flying, for your sea crossings. If you're used to going on cruises, perhaps you could think about replacing this mode of holiday with another that emits fewer greenhouse gases.
