These emission factors are in fact the maximum construction footprint thresholds for new buildings, set by the RE2020. Although we are aware that using these maximum thresholds to assess the footprint of past buildings is very likely to underestimate the construction footprint, we do not have any figures for older homes that would enable us to put forward a more reliable figure.
