Initially, Nos Gestes Climat considered that a home was fully amortised after 50 years, without taking into account refurbishment and renovation work. We decided to revise our approach to take account of these factors.

From now on, we will take into account not only refurbishment work, but also renovation work. To do this, we are basing ourselves on a study by the Ordre des Architectes on the carbon weight of housing, incorporating intermediate carbon estimates for the various stages of the works:

• Refurbishment work every 10 years
• Renovation work every 25 years, distinguishing between finishing work, insulation and heating.

The study also proposed new emission factors for housing construction. However, these "ADEME" sourced data are not linked to any study that would allow them to be justified and used with confidence. We have therefore chosen to follow the figures from the recommendations of the RE2020 law, even though it concerns new buildings, and by its very nature underestimates the emissions linked to the construction of older buildings.
