This is the factor that allows us to convert the price paid by the household into consumption in kWh.
There is no single price per kWh of gas, as the price depends on the supplier, the tariff chosen, the geographical area, etc.
We have therefore decided to use the benchmark gas price – a reference tariff published monthly by the French Energy Regulatory Commission – for both the standing charge and the cost per kWh. Updated in June 2026 (prices inclusive of VAT).
Please note that the gas market is largely liberalised, so the benchmark price, which forms the basis of our calculation, is not exclusive.
The table provided by the CRE clearly highlights a difference in tariffs between customers who use gas as their main source of heating and those who use it solely for cooking and domestic hot water.
An average figure is also provided, “based on current consumption assumptions for all consumers”. It is this figure that we have chosen to use in the simulator for the sake of simplicity.
A priori, there is no API for this figure, so we are updating this value manually via its Best Before Date.
