Notes

The carbon and water footprint data are taken from the Ecobalyse simulator from ADEME. We use the stable version of the data (v. 7.0.0), which is also the regulatory version.

We had initially chosen to work with the current version of the data, which significantly increased the footprint of the clothing. This increase is linked to the switch to Agribalyse 3.2. With Agribalyse 3.1, there was a WTU (Waste Treatment Unit) patch that had been hard-coded into the EF3.1 method for a long time, and which originated in errors in Agribalyse 3.1. Now this WTU patch also modified the ecoinvent impacts. For example:

  • Ethiopia's electricity decreased by 91
  • brazil's electricity increased by 31
  • peru's electricity increased by 115
  • organic cotton has increased by 35
  • flax has increased by 45

However, we will be closely monitoring developments in the data and updating the emission factors when the next regulatory data update is published.
