Deforestation

Notes

The Pendril & al. study gives an average footprint of 34 kgCO2e / person of imported deforestation linked to the consumption of farmed meat. We assume that these emissions linked to the production of farmed meat mainly belong to the 'red meat' category: this is the category that consumes the most land and resources. The average French person consumes around 3 meals of red meat a week, or 156 meals a year.

As a result, we are adding an average footprint of 0.218 kgCO2e/meal of red meat to the meal footprint.
