Tip: on average, 1kg of pellets produces 4.6 kWh. You can therefore multiply your annual consumption (in tonnes) by 4600 kWh.
The default value here is likely to be greatly overestimated. The data used ( CEREN) does not reflect the reality of wood energy. The data on household wood consumption combines data on pellets (which are highly efficient in terms of combustion) and logs in open fires (which are not very efficient).
And so it is likely that if the CEREN data (for kWh consumed and surface area heated) were to discriminate by type of wood fuel, we would end up with a much lower kWh/m2 value for pellets than for logs.
