10 minutes chrono to calculate your carbon and water footprint

Before you start

It's an individual test!

Answer the questions on your behalf, not for your household.

It's about your personal life, not your activity.

You start your test with a starting score.

This is calculated from default answers assigned in advance to each question. If you pass a question, these same answers will be taken into account.

Any other questions?

  • It's a fact that the climate is warming because of human activity. Everything we consume, use and then throw away requires materials and energy. Whether it's during the production, use or end-of-life phase of the good or service. So all our activities contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Some a great deal, others very little. But what is our impact, as individual citizens?

    Effet de serre

To estimate our own contribution to global warming (our "climate impact"), we usually calculate the carbon footprint of our individual consumption.

  • With a unit with a barbaric name: the CO₂ equivalent. Carbon dioxide CO₂, you know it: we breathe it out all day long, but it has no influence on the climate.

    CO₂e

It's the machines that make our modern comforts and conveniences that emit massive amounts of it, so much so that we count it in thousands of kilos per year and per person, and therefore in tonnes of CO₂e!

Other gases, especially methane methane and nitrous oxide N2O also warm the planet: we convert their warming potential into CO₂e to simplify measurement.
  • Driving a car, eating a steak, heating your home, getting medical treatment, buying a TV...

Our individual consumption footprint is the sum total of all the activities that make up our modern lives.

  • Water is a precious global resource. Like the climate, the water cycle is heavily impacted by human activities. We have decided to add the water footprint to our calculation model to help you understand this impact.
